I have been a journalist in the West Midlands for 25 years; joining the Evening Mail as industrial correspondent, becoming the Express & Star’s business editor, then the Birmingham Post’s personal finance editor.
I have freelanced since 2000, writing on regeneration, property, manufacturing, international trade and personal finance, for local, regional and national media.
I also work with several PR agencies, including Jane Bolas, Anne Parry, Branch Martin Spicer and Tomorrow People.
I have an established and loyal client list, but also the flexibility and willingness to consider new work; either as a one-off commission, or via a monthly retainer.
My experience on multi-edition daily newspapers means working to very tight deadlines is a speciality.
Suggesting a meaningful ‘standard’ day rate is impossible, as each commission’s requirements are so varied.
However, in thirteen years, I have never lost a customer because of price or quality issues, and my friends working in the PR sector are delighted with the ‘hit-rate‘ we achieve.
